A Vintage Nightstand

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share with you my latest project! This adorable nightstand was purchased by a friend recently. The size and adorable handles really added to the look she wants for her bedroom, the only problem was that the white paint on it was in rough shape! Using some Rustoleum Chalk Paint in White Linen, I was able to update this nightstand to turn it into an adorable French Chic addition to her room!

It’s always amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do! This nightstand looks so much brighter! After the paint dried, we decided to try out some stencilling! I printed out some vintage stencil ideas, shaded the backs of the paper with a pencil and traced over them to created an imprint of the images we wanted. Then I filled them in  by hand using black paint and my finest paint brushes. This method proved to be my favourite way of stencilling! It was so easy and the lines were very clean without any bleeding that tends to happen with paint pens and plastic stencils. 

 

Once the stencils had dried, I took the metals handles and used some black spray paint to freshen them up. They really stand out now! I also waxed the entire nightstand for protection using a cheesecloth. So far, cheesecloth has been the best method I’ve found to put on wax. Once the handles dried and were put back on, the nightstand was complete. What a transformation! We are so happy with the results! Jenny, it was a blast doing this project for you!

Chalk Painted Dining Table Set

Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share this recent project with you! My aunt has this beautiful dining table set from 1994, but wanted to give it an update. Using chalk paint from Spruce Collectives, I repainted the chairs and table and waxed them for protection, the results are stunning! The black paint used on the chairs is called “cast iron” and the off-white paint for the table is called “goose down.” These paints are amazing quality and one can goes a long way! 

As you can see, this table set already had a great look to it! The chairs were awesome because they didn’t have a million rungs to have to paint! 

 

The chairs always take the longest to paint! Fortunately, waxing them afterwards using a cheesecloth and Mix Wax’s paste finishing wax was easy to do! 

It was very important to pull the table top apart so that I could get to every angle on the leaf. 

 Wow! After all was painted and waxed, this dining set looks amazing! This update gives it a really fresh look that will last it for years! 

If you look closely in the above photo, you can see my aunt’s adorable dogs, Molly and Oliver checking out the action from the sofa! 😂 This was such a fun project! 

Hand Painted Signs

Hey guys! I know there’s always quite a bit of time between posts, but this one was worth the wait! I’ve been getting into doing some hand painting on signs, I love drawing and so I recently thought I’d give painting a try. These signs were easy to make thanks to some helpful posts I’d seen on Pinterest. 

I started out with just a small piece of scrap wood, I’m obsessed with trees and have always loved sketching them, but haven’t painted them before. It was quite a learning curve! Below is the photo of my first attempt.

I was inspired by this photo on Pinterest, when I was asked to paint a sign for my mom, I was very happy with how it turned out! 

As you can see, I’ve started to get the hang of it.

I’ve also played around with scrap pieces of wood, I did some Christmas paintings to make the house more festive! 

   

This sign needed some TLC! It was out dated and the cool hardware didn’t even show because of dark brown paint. My brother asked me to give it a new look... 

And finally, this a sign from yesterday’s craft night with some family members. I’m starting to get better at pine branches, I think it’s just a matter of more practise :)
